He entered into eternal rest June 17, 2017 in Pruitt Health Orangeburg, South Carolina. George grew up in Williamsburg County, and attended Williamsburg County Public Schools. He graduated from Battery Park High School in 1962. While attending Battery Park he played basketball and was called the “Old Pro” because of his left handed shoots. He then further his education at Voorhees College in Denmark, SC and Morris College in Sumter, SC where he earned an associate Degree. He served in the United States Army for 20 yrs., he was a veteran of the Vietnam War and Desert Storm.
He was employed at Farmers Telephone Cooperative for 30 years as a Cable Splicer. George was a member of Elijah United Methodist Church. He was a member of the United Methodist Men, Usher and Trustee Board and President of the Administrative Board . He also served on the Williamsburg County Development Board.
He was preceded in death by one sister Lillias Peterson, and one brother Henry L. Fulton.
He leaves to cherish his memories forever; his loving and devoted wife Lula R. Speights of the home; one loving daughter Melissa Scott of Kingstree, SC; Three loving sons Gary (Donaree) Speights , Sr. of Lake City, SC, Sylvester (Yolanda) Speights of Kingstree, SC and George E. Speights, Jr. of Kingstree, SC; one loving grandson Gary Speights, Jr. of Lake City, SC, one step granddaughter Anya Bradley of Kingstree, SC ; one step great-grand Ashton Bradley of Kingstree, SC; two sisters Lillias Means of Greenwood, SC and Kathleen R. Felder of Greeleyville, SC, one adopted sister Deloris Fowler of Kingstree, SC; four brothers; Heyward Fulton, Harvey (Carol) Fulton, James (Rebecca) Fulton and Jackie Fulton all of Kingstree, SC; two aunts Nettie Fulton and Elizabeth Wall both of Kingstree, SC; three sisters-in-law Sue Fulton of Florence, SC, Hattie Cooper of Nesmith, SC and Alifair (Eugene) Snowden of Rochester, NY; one brother-in-law Bruce(Sadie) Rich of Nesmith, SC; two special friends; Mr. Andy McKnight of Kingstree, SC and Mr. Johnnie Snowden of Rochester, NY along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
